A 21-year-old man is dead following an accident on a Marathon County farm Saturday afternoon. Authorities say the accident happened in the town of Berlin.
A deputy with the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department says a family who owned a farm off 72nd Avenue had hired an Amish family to tear down a silo.
Deputy James Armstrong says a man and his five sons were working on the project.
Some of them were working on the top of the silo removing parts and others were on the bottom collecting concrete blocks that had already been removed.
“One of the sons had thrown a concrete block or a stave off the silo and it struck his brother in the head,” Deputy Armstrong said.
The man died instantly.
Authorities say the concrete blocks they were removing weigh about 75 pounds each.
