MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Madison police are investigating whether a Saratoga man accused of kidnapping two young men is connected to a college student's unsolved murder.

Edward Lanphear is accused of holding the men captive in his Wood County home and sexually assaulting them. Court records show investigators found a newspaper clipping about slain University of Wisconsin-Madison student Brittany Zimmermann in Lanphear's home.

Zimmermann was killed in her off-campus apartment in early April. She was from Marshfield, also in Wood County.

Madison police spokesman Joel DeSpain says a detective plans to talk with Wood County authorities within the next day. Investigators also will see if the 46-year-old Lanphear knew any of Zimmermann's acquaintances.

Lanphear's attorney declined comment.
