NEW INFO: Fire Chief Says Weston House Fire Caused by Malfunctioning Appliance

The Red Cross is helping out a Weston family who isn't able to live in their home following a fire Saturday.
Chief Pierce of the Weston Fire Department says after completing their investigation they determined a malfunctioning electrical appliance in the family's living room started the fire.
The family was not home when the fire started.
Neighbors called the fire department reporting smoke coming from the home’s living room window shortly before 6:30 p.m.
Fire departments from Ringle, Weston and Wausau responded to the scene and had the fire contained by seven o’clock.
The house sustained smoke damage throughout but fire damage was pretty well contained to the living room.
Authorities say they estimate the total loss to be about $50,000.
