The snowmobile trail system is designed to run from bar to bar. And having a drink along the way is a part of the culture of snowmobiling.

But bars and taverns are not to blame for the recent rash of alcohol related snowmobile fatalities.

Twenty-five people have died on Wisconsin's trails this season, and at least seven were legally drunk. But Marathon County snowmobile coordinator Dave Marg says there has been a decrease in recent years of the number of alcohol caused deaths.

Tavern sponsored programs like safe ride and expanded menus to include food and non-alcoholic drinks are a big part of that.
