MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Prince Fielder singled in Rickie Weeks with one out in the bottom of the ninth as the Brewers beat the Pirates 2-1 tonight.
It was Milwaukee's second straight win.
Pirates reliever Tyler Yates (3-2) was in trouble from the start of the ninth, issuing a leadoff walk to Weeks.
J.J. Hardy's sacrifice bunt ended his 16-game hitting streak but put the winning run in scoring position. Then Yates intentionally walked Ryan Braun to bring up Fielder.
Fielder drove Yates' fastball to left-center field to lift Milwaukee to its 14th win at home in the past 17.
Brewers reliever Eric Gagne got the win by working around a one-out single to Jason Bay in the ninth. He improves to 2-2.
Brewers G.M. Doug Melvin also confirmed that the Crew have made an offer to the Indians for reigning AL Cy Young winner C.C. Sabathia. Details of the offer have not been confirmed, but is believed to center around Double-A outfielder Matt LaPorta, their #1 draft pick last year. Melvin says he expects to hear from the Indians on Sunday or Monday, the latest.
