State Health Officials are Investigating cases of the West Nile Virus found in a bird and a horse in Western Wisconsin.

One Biologist with UW Marathon County says there's no need to panic, because no human cases have been reported in the state this year... and only a few mosquito species can carry the kind humans can contract. "Not all mosquitoes can transmit West Nile there's just a few species that can do it and those tend to stay close to the edge of the woods so they probably won't be the mosquitoes in your yard" says Associate Professor Paul Whitaker.
Along with avoiding those areas he suggests using bug spray just to be on the safe side.
Whitaker says there were just 13 Human West Nile cases in the entire state last year.
