The Portage County Sheriff's Department has released the name of a 65-year-old man who was killed following a traffic accident Wednesday afternoon in Plover.
Investigators said a pick up was traveling northbound on I-39 when they believe the driver fell asleep. The driver, Leslie Kollauf drifted off road right and into the east ditch then became airborne after hitting the embankment for the State Highway 54 bridge. The sheriff's department said the vehicle launched into the bridge girder I-beam before falling and coming to rest on its roof on northbound I-39.
Kollauf was extricated and air lifted from the scene and later died as a result of the injuries sustained.
