UPDATE: Fri 9:44 AM, Jul 19, 2013
The number of damaged headstones at two Wausau cemeteries is now up to 56.
The vandalism is believed to have occurred sometime between July 13-14.
The damage will be covered by insurance, but only to raise headstones back on their foundations not to replace them.
The cemetery association will hire a company to do the work. They said it could cost up to $300 each.
Police are investigating a possible connection to this crime and the vandalization of vehicles at Fred Mueller automotive.

Dozens of headstones in two Wausau cemeteries were desecrated over the weekend and now police are looking for the vandals responsible.
The tipped over headstones were discovered at Pine Grove and St. Josephs cemeteries.
Mel Sandquist, President of the Wausau Cemetery Association says vandalism like this happens every few years but the damage done always hits hard. "So many of these monuments are older ones that can not be replaced,” he explained.
Sandquist said he has heard from their insurance agency and they will be coming out to the Cemetery to assess the damage and see how much of the costs they will cover.
