Millions of people are now doing their taxes online. Accountants and the IRS say that electronic filing cuts down on paperwork and gives people faster results.
"Instead of mailing a return and hoping it is received, we as an e-filer receive acknowledgment that a return was received," said H & R Block franchiser Bob Smith.
"You can get your refund earlier," said IRS employee Wendy Garrett, "when you have a direct deposit to a savings account."
Garrett says filing online also reduces the risk of refunds getting lost in the mail.
