Governor Jim Doyle is commending an area businessman for his renewable energy creation.
The governor stopped by Grand Meadow Energies in Stratford and congratulated Joe VanGroll for inventing a method that begins with cheese and ends with fuel.
His bio-fuel plant uses waste from cheese to create ethanol and yeast. The only by-product left behind is purified water.
Governor Doyle says the state needs more entrepreneurs like the VanGroll.
"It's pretty amazing and I love this one because this is really a Wisconsin answer. Ya know, somehow in the cheese process we're gonna find the fuel for the vehicles in the state," said Governor Doyle.
He says the home-grown innovation will help lead the state and country to energy independence.
The governor hopes by 2025, 25 percent of electricity and fuel will come from renewable sources.
