Sunday was a day of tears, both of joy and sorrow, for families in Northcentral Wisconsin. Parents, siblings and children came to Junction City for a family day, as members of the 998 Quartermaster company prepare to leave for active duty.

"You're left behind because your loved ones have made a commitment to defend our country whenever called upon." Sue Sternberger, a 21-year veteran of the Army reserves said, her voice cracking with emotion.

The new Family Resource Group leader wipes her eyes as she addresses a sea of faces.

"It's hard," said Darrell England, unable to hold back tears.

England's daughter, Specialist Gabriel England says she was surprised when her company was called up.

"I've actually only been in the military for nine months," the 22-year-old said. "I just got back from training."

"She's my only daughter you know," her father, also a former military man says, "and that makes it more rough. We've always been a very close family."

All of Specialist England's four brothers came to Family Day to see her one last time before her company moves out.

"I'm proud that she's my sister," 15-year-old Bill England said. "I look up to her a lot."

England's father, along with more than 100 other families who traveled to Junction City Sunday, took the day to say goodbye to the people they love, and wish them the best.
