Every soldier in the military knows there's a chance of being called to duty and having to leave everything behind.

"When I signed up, I knew what could happen." Specialist Bobbi Cullen said.

Cullen is part of the 998 Quartermaster Company that was just called up for active duty. The 23-year-old single mother has the difficult duty of leaving her 21-month-old son behind.

"The first couple of weeks were probably the hardest," Cullen said.

Cullen looks back. She says she knew it was a possibility, however, so she had begun preparing for it.

"I moved in with my sister, so he's really comfortable with the environment there," said Cullen.

Cullen says she misses 21-month-old Damien already, so she keeps a picture of him with her in her pocket to help her get through the tough times.

"I know that I'm doing this for him, so he can have a better life." Cullen said.

The company will leave for Fort McCoy next week. They will stay there for two weeks, while they receive more instructions and brush up on skills. After that, the soldiers say they have not been told what their orders will be.

Cullen is part of the 998 Quartermaster Company in Junction City.
