Organizers of an ongoing fundraiser to help the family of young girl purchase a handicap accessible van, say someone has stolen $200 worth of supplies.
Various fundraisers have been held in the last couple months to help raise $20,000 for the Tlusty family. Maddie Tlusty, 4, has several conditions including a club foot, a permanently dislocated hip, fused jaw, airway impairments and cortical visual impairment. Maddie also requires a wheelchair to get around, however her family does not have a handicap accessible van, which makes transporting her difficult.
One of the fundraisers, known as “flocking” involves placing a "Make Maddie Mobile" sign in the donors yard or a yard they designate along with a group of plastic flamingos. A minimum donation of $25 is recommend to "flock" someone. For more information contact, Stephanie at 715-570-8912.
Sadly, Maddie's mother Stephanie says sometime over the weekend someone took the flamingos, which were in a yard in Rib Mountain. The family says they're upset someone would do such a thing.
The Tlusty family says so far they've raise about $12,000 toward their goal. A larger benefit is planned for Saturday, July 20 at Homestead Inn, about six miles east of Wausau. The benefit is from 4-10 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. Ticket includes a hot sandwich plate at 6 pm and automatic entry into drawings for 10 great prizes like weekend getaways, spa packages and a grilling package.
Drawings start at 8 pm. Need not be present to win.
If you'd like to help out, but are unable to attend, a benefit account has been established at Peoples State bank. Check can be made out to: Make Maddie Mobile account.
