2 Facing Charges Following Waupaca Burglaries

Two people are facing charges after an early morning burglary in Waupaca.

According to a news release, dispatched received a call around 3 am on Friday for the report of a possible break in at Nelson's Strike Zone.

When officers arrived they spotted the suspect, later identified as Andrew Akright, 27, leaving the bar. He fled on foot but was arrested a short time later. Police say he was armed with handgun.

Officers determined he forced his way into the the business and broke into gaming machines. It is unknown how much money was taken.

Akright was booked into the Waupaca County Jail on charges of armed burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property, illegal possession of prescription drugs, entry into locked coin machines, carrying a concealed weapon, and theft.

Wesley Martin, age 23, was also taken into custody on burglary charges. Police believe the two men are responsible for multiple burglaries and thefts throughout Waupaca County.

Akright could also be charged with the burglary of Club 22 and Courtside bar in Waupaca.
