A 29-year-old Plover man charged with two robberies and the attempted robbery of three Stevens Point gas stations is expected to enter a plea later this month.
Kenneth Groholski remains in the Portage County jail on a $50,000 cash bond.
Police say they received a report of a robbery the morning August 11 at the Southside BP on Church Street in Stevens Point. Investigators say this incident was very similar to a robbery reported on July 21 at the same location.
A store employee said a man entered the store and demanded cash. The man was described as approximately 6' tall with short blonde hair, wearing a gray colored hooded sweatshirt. The suspect had his hand in his sweatshirt pocket implying a threat. The suspect left the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
While officers were on the scene and searching the area of Church Street, a second report of robbery came in about 10 minutes later from the Westside Mobil gas station on West Clark Street. This employee reported a similar incident and the same suspect description.
A witnesses from the second robbery reported a suspect vehicle description. This vehicle was located in the 3200 block of Michigan Ave. and a stop was conducted.
Another man was arrested and questioned, however, no charges will be filed.
Groholski is charged with nine counts including two counts of armed robbery. He's scheduled to enter a plea to those charges Sept. 22.
