MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Bail is set at $1 million for a Wisconsin man charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of his half-brother last summer.

Twenty-eight-year-old Jeffrey Vogelsberg appeared in Dane County court on Wednesday. After trying to fight extradition from Washington state after his arrest in November, Vogelsberg was returned to Madison and booked into jail last Friday.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports Assistant Public Defender Patrick Schilling said he and Vogelsberg agreed with prosecutors to the $1 million bail.

The complaint charges that Vogelsberg beat his half-brother, 27-year-old Matthew Graville, on June 30 at a home in Mazomanie where they were living.

Graville had Asperger's syndrome, an autism-spectrum disorder. Detectives found Graville's body buried in the woods months after he disappeared.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 10.
