Many children from diverse cultures are adopted by Wisconsin families. Sunday, those families got a chance to learn how to celebrate their children's heritage.

In the first annual Multi-Cultural Adoption Festival at UW Stevens Point, parents found out ways to raise their children who come from different backgrounds. The event also connected kids and parents to a mentoring program.
Students from diverse cultures at UWSP serve as the mentors. Anne Hoye is adopted. She co-organized this program because she understands how important it is for adopted children to know someone who shares their same culture.
"If you don't have someone who looks like you, who can relate to what you're going through, it can be difficult," says Hoye.
The program hopes to hold this event every fall. They're still accepting families and mentors for this term.
