Police say a 23-year-old man was shot in the head by another man in his 20s.
The victim, Dirk Wolf, reportedly known for using a cane, was found lying on the sidewalk when police arrived on the scene.
The suspect had fled, but not fast or far enough.
Point Police Chief Jeff Morris says "We located witnesses who reported the suspect fleeing the scene, a possible suspect who was later apprehended down by the body shop, about three blocks west on Water Street."
Police say they also recovered the gun, a large caliber revolver, from a nearby yard. So why such a gruesome act in such a busy area of this local city?
Police have not yet released a motive, but neighbors say they believe the victim was a specific target.
Nathan Garski says "This guy had a motive. He wanted to kill this guy. It wasn't about money; I think it was just about hate."
The suspect is in the Stevens Point Police Department and could face murder charges.
