This week the state Senate will vote on a bill that would wipe out all local smoking ordinances and replace them with one, statewide law.
The vote is going to happen on Tuesday (October 25, 2005).
Under the bill, all bar owners in Wisconsin could allow smoking, as could restaurants with a capacity of 50 or less people.
It would be banned completely in restaurants that can seat more than 50, unless that restaurant has a bar area.
There are about 20 different smoking regulations across the state, including in Wausau and Stevens Point.
Gov. Doyle says he'll veto the bill if it does, in fact, pass the Senate.
