LANCASTER, Wis. (AP) -- Grant County authorities say they've solved a mailbox-smashing and window-breaking vandalism case that involved several thousand dollars in damage.

The sheriff's office started getting reports a week ago of mailboxes being smashed and destroyed. Those reports continue into last Thursday, along with reports of damage to vehicles that had windows smashed out in the area of a Fennimore hotel.

Then came the reports of house windows broken out in the town of Mount Ida.

An investigation led to three suspects, all from Fennimore, and now each man faces 45 counts of criminal damage to property.

Those charged are 19-year-old Michael Halverson, 19-year-old Nicholas Hipenbecker and 20-year-old Rogelio Jose Arellano.
