The man at the focus of a murder investigation in Wood County has been named as a murder suspect in the 1984 shooting death of a Portage County woman.

In a news release from the Portage County Sheriff's Department, the development of Joseph Reinwand as the main suspect in his wife's death came as a result of the investigation into Dale Meister's death.

Meister's death is being conducted by the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department.

Pamela Reinwand sustained a gunshot wound to her head on May 13, 1984 at their home on Highway 54 in the Town of Plover, according to Sheriff John Charewicz.

The death was originally ruled a suicide by Portage County Coroner Scott Rifleman, but there were suspicious circumstances connected to the incident.

Joseph Reinwand has not been charged with either crime.

Anyone with information on the death of Pamela Reinwand is urged to contact Detective Gary Koehmstedt at (715) 346-1494.
