HAYWARD, Wis. (AP) -- The Sawyer County Sheriff Department says remains that were found in the Flambeau River State Forest are human.

Chief Deputy Tim Zeigle said Sunday two men who were trout fishing found the remains Saturday in the southeastern part of the county.

He said a subsequent investigation determined the remains were human, and they were taken to Madison, where a forensic autopsy will be done.

Zeigle said the gender of the individual could not immediately be determined.
