SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) -- Police say they have arrested a 15-year-old Sheboygan girl after she made up a story about being attacked by a knife-wielding suspect on her way to school.
Captain David Derus says the Sheboygan North High School student told school officials that someone had assaulted yesterday and dragged her along a sidewalk.
Derus says school officials immediately restricted outside access to the high school, and Sheboygan police brought additional officers to patrol in and around it.
The captain says the girl admitted to police later yesterday that the incident did not happen and was based on a dream she had the night before.
Derus says police do not know what motivated the girl to make the false claim.
