MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The state Department of Workforce Development says two Madison-area companies will lay off a total of 237 workers in the next two months.
Logistics Services of Fenton, Missouri, will lay off 132 workers from its Janesville plant about the first week of July. The transportation and warehousing company says most of the layoffs will involve drivers and warehouse workers.
Sitel Corporation has also announced plans to lay off 105 workers from its telemarketing center in Madison effective June 1. Almost all the eliminated positions are customer-service representatives.
The company based in Nashville, Tennessee, says the job reduction is permanent.
The state is offering the displaced workers access to job-search and career-planning resources.
