Drug trafficking in Portage County hits a major roadblock. Stevens Point police took out what they say was a major drug operation in the city. They put five men in jail, all from Portage or Wood counties.

The busts came down after officers raided three homes. Police say they were surprised to find nearly $10,000 worth of marijuana in the three apartment homes.

"It's a dangerous drug." Stevens Point police Detective Frank Blader said. "It's an addictive drug. There's a lot of money associated with that. A lot of times other crimes can be a result of those addictions."

Five people are now in Portage County jail on charges of drug possession with intent to deliver.

From Stevens Point, 22-year-old Nathan Osfar, 21-year-old Allen Luebbe and 21-year-old James Krambs from Wisconsin Rapids. From Wisconsin Rapids, 20-year-old William Herman and 20-year-old Ryan Saylor.

Thirty-three-year-old Daniel Straumfjord of Neenah was also arrested on Tuesday, but police released him after giving him a citation. Police say they are also looking for two women from Stevens Point, believed to be connected with the case.

Point police say the next step in the investigation is to find out where the drugs were coming from.
