Snowmobile racers from around the world are gathering in northern Wisconsin.
In just a few days, qualifying racers will be tearing up the track at the World Championship Snowmobile Derby in Eagle River.
Thirty-year racing veteran Chip Pattermann is already checking out the track looking for bumps to avoid. Pattermann says that at speeds of 100 miles an hour, the key to staying in the race is staying on your sled.
More than 12,00 racers are registered and an estimated 30-thousand fans are expected to fill the stands. Top 10 qualifying is Saturday and the feature race is Sunday afternoon.
Although this year's race lacks the usual snowfall, track owner Chuck Decker says there's about a foot of ice on the track.
