Police have made another arrest in a string of veterinary clinic burglaries in Northcentral Wisconsin. Sgt. Mike Meronek says he thinks they have rounded up nearly all the people involved in the break-ins.
"There's another suspect in custody in Wisconsin Rapids," says Stevens Point police Sgt. Mike Meronek, "and our investigators will be making contact with him."
Four people have already been arrested in connection with the burglaries. Nineteen-year-old Timothy Schwab, 20-year-old Doug Kurziniski and 19-year-old Nathan Zuelke.
The fourth person arrested is a 17-year-old male who was released to a parent. Meronek says statements made by those in custody lead him to believe a total of six people were behind the break-ins.
With this latest arrest in Wisconsin Rapids, Point police say they believe they only have one more suspect to take into custody. Police will not release any more information on the latest arrest.
"It's pretty much wrapped up, I guess." Meronek said.
Meronek says the sixth person involved in the burglaries in Portage County may be in Marshfield. He says investigators, however, are still looking for evidence to link the burglaries in Wisconsin Rapids and Portage County to the ones in Marshfield.
Portage County's Assistant District Attorney says all the people in custody for the vet clinic break-ins is scheduled to appear in court on the Jan. 21.
