A state grant is helping clean up an eyesore in the Village of Granton.

Applications from 10 Wisconsin cities targeting 65 blighted properties were received by the June 28, 2012 deadline. A team of WHEDA and DFI employees reviewed and scored the applications and determined that all of them met the criteria spelled out in the NOFA. Here is a breakdown of the approved projects:

Milwaukee, 39 properties totaling $500,000.
Racine, 9 properties totaling $120,000.
Oshkosh, 4 properties totaling $60,000.
La Crosse, 4 properties totaling $40,000.
Wausau, 3 properties totaling $53,000.
Stoughton, 2 properties totaling $45,000.
Baraboo, 1 property totaling $19,440.
Granton, 1 property totaling $38,778.
Monroe, 1 property totaling $9,500.
River Falls, 1 property totaling $14,803.

Monday, at noon crews will remove building and debris from the Highway 10 entrance to Granton.

There are no immediate plan to build on the site and county leaders say at this time it will remain a green space.
