Dozens of young farmers in Northcentral Wisconsin teamed up to talk issues impacting the agriculture industry. They met at the Marathon Bowling Center in Marathon. There they sat down to talk and get the ball rolling early on political involvement. Two main points discussed were low commodity prices and rising insurance costs.

The group says getting started at a younger age means the chances they will be involved in lobbying for legislation that will protect the interests of farmers in the Badger state will be greater.

The Young Farmers are a part of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation. The group was started to encourage farmers under the age of 35 to network and learn about the challenges affecting different agricultural industries across the state, including dairy farming, hog farming and cranberry farming.
