A short taste of freedom for two state prisoners on the run earlier on Thursday.

Corrections spokesman Bill Clausius says the two Fox Lake minimum-security prisoners were picked up trying to hitch a ride at a car wash in Madison.

The two men were working at the Waupun prison garage Thursday morning and said they were ill.

Another minimum-security inmate, a trustee, was transporting the two back to Fox Lake when they commandeered the van and dropped the driver off in the Dane County Town of Bristol.

The sheriff's department says the driver went to a farmhouse and called authorities.

The prison van was found later this morning in a parking lot of a Sun Prairie grocery store.

Twenty-four-year-old Reece Blue was in prison for theft and forgery and 20-year-old Lewis Corder was imprisoned for burglary.
