36-year-old Chad Jorgensen is being held on a $100,000 cash bond in Langlade County, charged with solicitation of first degree intentional homicide after investigators say he offered to pay a cellmate at the Langlade County jail to kill his ex-wife.

Jorgensen, who owns Tidy Tornado Carpet Cleaning in Antigo allegedly made the offer after what authorities say was a bitter divorce.

One of Jorgensen’s cell-mates at the Langlade county jail Huber section was allegedly offered payment to kill Jorgensen’s ex-wife, Kelly Jorgensen.

But the cellmate spoke to a counselor at the health care center about the incident.

According to the criminal complaint, the counselor advised him to go to authorities. He did, and the counselor then also spoke with sheriff's investigators about the incident.

Jorgensen's cell-mate told investigators Jorgensen offered him a van, some weapons and between $200 and $500 dollars up-front to kill his ex-wife, according to the criminal complaint.

During a later taped conversation with his cellmate, Jorgensen said the deal was off, saying he was scared it would be traced back to him.

Sheriff Bill Greening of the Langlade County Sheriff’s Department says the Jorgensens had gone through a bitter divorce and custody battle, and the couple's child is now with Kelly Jorgensen.

According to the criminal complaint, Jorgensen said he had also offered another man $500 to kill his ex-wife.

But Sheriff Greening says he believes charges against anyone else are unlikely. “At this point in time, it doesn’t appear based on our investigation that anyone else is involved in the solicitation or plans to carry out this solicitation”, said Greening. “It’s my understanding that because this individual did come forward and volunteer this information that at least in this point in time, he more than likely won’t be charged in this case.”

Jorgensen’s scheduled to be back in court April 7th.
