Many are asking what religion or beliefs led Dale and Leilani Neumann to decide to pray for their daughter's healing, and not seek medical attention.
The Neumann’s say they were not a part of any organized church and apparently followed an online ministry called the 'Unleavened Bread Ministries'.
As news about 11 year old Kara spread, many people seem to have opinions on faith and medicine and the pastor of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church says we shouldn't’t be so quick to judge.
Pastor Heilderbrand says, "Let's be very careful about judging people when they feel they've done their best and they've done all what they knew to do with what they thought was right."
Pastor Heilderbrand says he doesn't know the Neumann’s personally but says he believes there is power in prayer.
And as a leader of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church, Heilderbrand and his wife say religion and medicine can be connected.
But he says their church does not preach that modern medical care should be avoided and Barbara Heilderbrand says, “ In a sense of someone that doesn't go for medical attention that is available, it kind of cuts off God's ability to work through that avenue of help and care."
Barbara Hildebrand says her sister suffers from diabetes and was in need of a kidney so Hildebrand had a procedure to donate hers.
"It got to the point where she needed more help so we all looked into it to see what other family members could do. I was the only one that had a good match, " she exclaimed.
So 24 years later, she says her sister is still doing well.
And as the church watches the Neumann’s sad case, members say they'll hope for the best.
Especially those who know them like Assistant Pastor Frank Ritchie who says, “Dale and Lilian in the past have been good people I can’t say anything bad about Dale and Lilian they have a real desire to help people."
Pastor Hildebrand says there are members of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church who have professions in the medical field.
