An animal shelter in Marathon is celebrating it's grand opening Tuesday, March 18th. New Life Pet Adoption Center is opening the doors of their 5 thousand square foot facility to give people an opportunity to tour the facility and meet the animals. Marsha Otto, a volunteer with the shelter says it considers it self a no- kill shelter and will only euthanize an animal, if a doctor deems it medically necessary to maintain the animals quality of life. She says all the animals are seen by a doctor, they're spayed or neutered and micro chipped before they are available for adoption.
Otto says the facility is completely dependent on volunteers and donations from the community. She says the volunteers do everything from feed the animals, clean the cages and walk the dogs three times a day.
The Grand Opening is from 4-7 p.m. at 125 Cattail Ave. (just off of Hwy 29 and 152 Ave. ). If you'd like more information visit their website below.
