A convicted sex offender is scheduled to be released next month in Vilas County.
According to a news release, Steven Burgess, 36, was convicted of attempted 2nd degree sexual of a child. Prosecutors say Burgess, while babysitting three children he entered the bedroom of a 9-year-old and forcefully attempted sexual intercourse.
Upon release, Burgess will be placed on intensive supervision, and will be subject to the WI Department of Corrections Electronic Monitoring Program and Global Positioning System. He will be required to register with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program for life.
