A gaggle of geese have made a home along the Wisconsin River, but they haven’t been the cleanest neighbors. Hundreds of the birds have been scurrying around Pfiffner Pioneer Park in Stevens Point.
The park has a lot of water because of the irrigation system which breeds a plentiful food source in this drought. In turn they’re leaving their droppings all over Pfiffner Pioneer Park.
Tom Schrader, Director of Parks and Recreational Services said, “With the lack of rain, it hasn’t washed away the residue that they leave and that’s the main problem. People come out here to put blankets down or something else and they aren’t able to leave without stuff being soiled.”
The parks staff in Stevens Point are allowing people to chase the geese with plastic clappers of with anything else that startles the birds.
