Going Online for Medical Advice? Check Your Source.

So maybe you've got a fever, or a sore throat, or weird aches and pains that won't go away, but you're not sure if you should go to the doctor. More and more of you are turning to the internet to check up on health symptoms.
But Doctors say you need to make sure you're getting good information. Aspirus Wausau Hospital says the internet can be a great resource, but they recommend you only use sites that have been approved by the National Library of Medicine. "This site provides many, many links at all levels”, said Jonnie Malm, Library Assistant at the Dr. Joseph F. Smith Medical Library at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. “And we know the National Library of Medicine has been reviewed for quality and for accuracy."
She says you should still bring any serious symptoms to your doctor, and never use a medical website that asks you to pay for advice. A link to sites verified by the National Library of Medicine can be found below.
