The day after Thanksgiving is traditionally known as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. And many people in Merrill were eager to get inside and grab some bargains.

The line started forming at 3 a.m., and when the doors opened at 5:30 the line was out the door and into the parking lot.

The doors opened at 5:30, but the sale didn't begin until 6, so many shoppers lined up around popular items.

Once the registers opened, the mad rush was on. One hundred and seventy Game Boy Advance's sold out in five minutes as many people grabbed more than one.

About an hour after the lines formed inside the departments, the lines reformed at the checkout aisles. But with more than 100 employees on staff, the sale went smoothly.
