The Village of Weston has decided not to challenge the bus referendum. The board made the decision on Monday night.
Village leaders originally decided to the drop the bus route a few months ago because the funding wasn't there, but supporters did everything they could to bring it back. In a special referendum question on June 5th, voters agreed. The village will now offer public transportation at least five days a week, starting next year.
Daniel Guild, Weston Village Administrator says, "We care about what our citizens think and how we go about providing services that they value and that was really a big part of it."
A lot of work will have to be done to reinstate the bus route by the January first deadline. Village leaders have to go back to square one, look at the budget and find a way to pay for it.
