The Tomahawk Police Chief is in a tough position.
Sworn to protect the public, he can't warn parents in his town that a sex offender lives among them.
If the sex offender committed the crimes as a juvenile, the record is sealed after the offender turns 18. The police are notified, but state law prevents them from disclosing information about juveniles.
In fact, Chief Don Johnson can't even confirm a sex offender is living in his town.
But he does hint at the possibility.
"You can certainly draw your own conclusions why a Chief in a small town like Tomahawk have a concern over a situation like this," Chief Johnson said.
Chief Johnson doesn't want to scare parents, but he does want them to pay attention to where their children are at all times.
