State Patrol: 2 Children Ejected During Eau Claire Accident not Properly Restrained

Two children and 27-year-old Minnesota woman were not seriously injured during an accident Monday morning near Eau Claire.

According to WEAU-TV, a vehicle driving westbound on Interstate 94, hit a barrier, crossed both lanes of traffic, hit an embankment and rolled over. The vehicle came to rest in a drainage ditch east of the off-ramp.

According to the State Patrol, a 20-month-old child and 9-year-old child were not properly buckled in and were ejected from the vehicle. The toddler was flown to a Rochester hospital and the 9-year-old was taken to an Eau Claire hospital. The driver was also taken to an Eau Claire hospital. Raenyia Porter, 1, Tenisha Wade, 27, and Briana Wade, 9, all of Maplewood, MN are expected to make full recoveries.

State Patrol says it happened around 6:45 a.m. on I-94 westbound near the Foster exit. The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
