MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin wildlife officials have released a detailed plan for this fall's wolf hunt that would allow hunters to kill 201 animals.

The plan would limit the number of hunters to 10 times the quota. That would translate to 2,010 hunters this year.

The state would be divided into six zones with lower sub-quotas in the northern areas where wolves are more plentiful. Wisconsin's Chippewa tribes would be allowed to reserve up to 50 percent of the total quota for their members within the ceded territory, which encompasses roughly the northern third of the state.

Department of Natural Resources ecologists say they're not comfortable setting higher harvest goals in the hunt's first year.

The Natural Resources Board is expected to take up the plan on July 17.
