It's the first bank robbery in at least 15 years, so with an armed suspect still on the loose in Stevens Point, police are stepping up patrols.

The robbery happened just before 6 p.m. Friday at the Community First Bank on Highway 10 east.

Police said the suspect entered the bank right before it closed, pulled a gun and demanded money.

Investigators with the FBI and the Stevens Point Police Department are now pouring over bank surveillance video.

"Picking it apart, looking at it piece by piece," said Lt. Kevin Ruder with the Stevens Point Police Department.

Because the suspect is still at large, police have also decided to step up patrols around banks and 24-hour food stops.

The suspect is described as a white male with a slender build. He's 5'10" to 6' tall. He weighs between 150 and 160 pounds. Police said the robber was wearing khaki shorts and red long sleeved shirt.

If you have any information that can help solve this crime, call the Stevens Point Police Department at (715) 346-1500.
