A Wausau-area business is getting a thumbs-up for keeping work-related injuries down. K-Tech Kleening Systems is one of two local companies that received Wisconsin's Corporate Safety Award Wednesday.
The Kersemeier family started the company nearly 30 years ago. It went from being a small family business to a company that now has 77 workers. The company's president says its concern for safety grew along with the business.
"When you're a smaller company," Craig Kersemeier said, "it's easier to keep safety-minded for four people, but when you have 70-some employees, it gets more and more difficult, so it's a commitment from the top all the way down."
K-Tech Kleening Systems provides commercial and residential carpet cleaning as well as janitorial services.
Another local business, Rib Lake Health Care Center, is also being recognized for having an outstanding safety record.
