The Lincoln County Humane Society says 15 kittens found in a box along the highway have been adopted by families.

The kittens were found by a passerby in closed box on Highway J in Gleason in early August.

A veterinarian said the animals showed signs of respiratory problems and heat exhaustion. A shelter employee told NewsChannel 7 there are seven female kittens and eight males.

The Lincoln County Humane Society is located at 200 North Memorial Drive in Merrill.
