Springville Pub and Eatery owner Emmy Danyelski ties his apron on for another day, but fast forward a year from now … he isn't sure if he'll have that option.
The state bought his liquor store a year ago to widen Post Road and Danyelski said they are also buying his restaurant. The buildings are just a few of several to be demolished during a massive road project.
The $40 million project spans just south of Stevens Point along Business 51 to widen the highway, add bike lanes and sidewalks along with a raised center median. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2016.
Michael Kretschmer, the Project Development Supervisor at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation said they do their best to reach out to the land owners and work with them early on.
Danyelski says he has 10 employees and he isn't sure if he'll be able to find a new location.
Demolition began on another building, Spiedini's restaurant located at 1010 Post Road this week. By November, 13 buildings are scheduled to be demolished.
