The City of Stevens Point is hosting the 12th Annual Riverfront Jazz Festival this weekend.
John Greiner's Swing Shift Band kicked things off Saturday at Pfiffner Pioneer Park. In total, six musical acts will take the stage over the weekend. The festival runs from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The soggy weather certainly didn't deter the crowd Saturday. Organizer Jenny Bellmer says that's because the event is so unique.
"The jazz festivals that are near here are not free. This is totally free and you get this beautiful scenery, lots of fun, and you friends can come out. It's for everybody."
While the event is totally free to attend, people are invited to support the UWSP Jazz Department through the purchase of event merchandise.
Sunday the UWSP Jazz Ensemble will take the stage with Woody Mankowski in a special tribute to Ray Charles.
