Driving to and from work on Monday probably took you longer because the roads were messy. But, many early morning commuters in Wausau are wondering why even the main streets were not plowed before 7 a.m.

The superintendent of Public Works in Wausau tells NewsChannel 7 that his crews do not come in until 7 o'clock in the morning unless they are in the winter schedule.

The winter schedule puts plow drivers on the road overnight so the roads are ready in the morning.

The city says that will take place when more snow is on the ground.

Meantime, a budget crunch could also be impacting your snow removal this winter.

"We are already down eight employees coming into this winter over the last two winters. So times are going to be a little tighter," said Don Skare from Wausau Public Works.
