A new health care complex for families in the greater Wausau area is one step closer to a reality.
Leaders with the Village of Weston and Milwaukee-based Ministry Health Care gathered at the site of the new $100 million hospital Monday for a ground-blessing ceremony.
The 104-bed hospital and medical complex will be located off State Highway 29 and Camp Phillips Road in Marathon County. Construction on the hospital should start in the next couple of weeks and is expected to be complete by late 2004.
The Village of Weston is also hoping hotels and restaurants will move in creating a big economic development for the area.
A game plan on that subject is pretty much being kept a secret at least for now.
"Can't tell you too much at this time, but there is a lot of things in the oven right now," said Vilas Machmueller, Weston Village President.
"Over the next few months we'll be able to divulge some of it. Right now we can't," Machmueller added.
