Snow Arrives, Activities Postponed

Updated: Tue 9:47 AM, Oct 22, 2002

Seven inches of snow is just a big tease for all the snowmobilers and skiers in the area.

The ground and the lakes need to be frozen before the trails can open, and at Granite Peak, they are still finishing work on a new chalet.

Snowmobile trails won't open until after deer season is over, so all enthusiasts can do is bring their sleds in to get tuned up.

At Wausau Motorsports, the shop is full of sleds waiting to be prepped for winter.

And the snow has skiers lighting up the phones at the ski hill, buying their season passes and asking if the slopes will open early.

Right now, Granite Peak won't open until Thanksgiving, but that could change if they get everything prepped for the season and there is enough snow on the ground.
