Interstate Crash-Signals

State transportation officials are hesitant about putting up fog warning beacons along Interstate 43 where ten people died.

DOT manager Joe Hollister says constructing too many warning signs reduces their impact. He says drivers may not take the warnings as seriously if they're accustomed to them.

Hollister says the DOT doesn't think there's anything different about the Cedar Grove location than anywhere else along the interstate system.

Still, the DOT plans to study the fog-related crashes on Interstate 43 from Green Bay to Ozaukee County.

Wisconsin's deadliest traffic crash happened Oct. 11 when more than 60 vehicles collided on the interstate near Cedar Grove.

The State Patrol and DOT blame fog for the pileup.
